This year’s annual fund-raising event will take place on Saturday, February 10 , from 5-8pm in the the Central School. Activities will include dinner, funfair games, a cakewalk, karaoke, raffle baskets (created by students and their families) and a silent auction. Mark your calendar now and plan to attend. Invite family and friends too!
The Winfield Education Foundation and PTO are looking forward to a night packed with fun for everyone and hope you will join us.
What’s the Chili Part?
There will be an assortment of chili recipes from local restaurants and Winfield area kitchens for you to sample and judge. Judging will be based on categories such as the hottest, most original/unique, best decorations, best amateur and best restaurant chili. Come taste them for yourself, and then cast your vote!
What if I don’t like Chili?
Rest assured, you won’t be left out. Scooby’s will be providing hotdogs for souls just like you.
How can I be a Chili Contestant?
All you need to do is register by contacting Lisa Marie Vogt (lisamariepto@sbcglobal.net or 871-5644), although, space is limited. As a parent, you will be asked to bring 3 gallons of your favorite chili ready to be served (restaurants will be asked to bring 5 gallons). It can be any concoction, just as long as it is chili. For more details or questions, e-mail Lisa Marie. See pictures of last year's vendors here.
Tell me about the Raffle Baskets:
Each classroom is being asked to fill a basket that will be raffled off at the event. A note listing the themes assigned to each teacher went home before the winter break. If you did not receive this or misplaced it, view it online or stop by either school office.
Donations will be collected in the classrooms for the next few weeks.
How can parents help?
We need plenty of volunteers to help on the 10th (and with some miscellaneous stuff prior to the event too). Fill out the attached volunteer sheet (PDF) and return it to your child’s teacher/advisory class before January 31st. Working at an event like this is a great opportunity to get to know other parents in the school. As an added bonus this
year, PTO would like to thank you for your help by giving you a chance to win prizes in the Just for Volunteers raffle at the end of our event. You can earn a chance to win for each shift you work the day of the event. Earn a bonus chance by returning your volunteer sheet or signing up online (www.winfield34.ptomanager.com) by
January 19th. Call Mary Schramer (784-0058) with any questions regarding this area.
Can students help?
Yes, we are looking for 6-8th grade students to help with the funfair games. Let us know on the attached page if you can lend a hand. Hours put in by students in 8th grade will qualify for their “volunteer hours”. Students can also help with clean-up at the end of the event or serving desserts.
What else do I need to know?
We are currently seeking donations and or advertising from businesses for our silent auction. If you work for a company that may want to participate, or if you own your own company and would like to donate or advertise, please contact Deanna Mustafa at 230-0169, demustafa@yahoo.com or Susan Gavin at gavinPTO@comcast.net. Donations may include services, gift certificates or products, or even free accommodations at vacation properties such as time shares or summer homes.
Information on ticket sales and how to donate cakes for the cake walk will be coming home soon so be sure to watch for it. In the meantime, prepare for an awesome Chili Fest and a great night out with friends!
