The school year is quickly winding down. There are a few more PTO activities between now and the end of the school year on June 5.
Our final fundraiser of the year will begin on May 1 and end May 8. For many years now, Prosek's Nursery has provided a shop and share opportunity for our school families. Download the 2009 Proseks Flyer and take it to Prosek's when you shop for spring bedding plants, perennials, Mother's Day gifts, vegetables, mulch and much more and they will donate a percentage of your purchases to the school. Last year, they donated over $800 through this program.
Our final Market Day pick-up is scheduled for May 6 at 2:30 p.m. We have decided to discontinue Market Day for the 2009 to 2010 school year due to the number of volunteer hours required to run the program relative to the income it generates. Additionally, in response to feedback that we have too many fundraisers going on in our district, we are planning to hold fewer fundraisers next year. We thank all who have been loyal Market Day supporters over the years and encourage you to check out the new fall fundraiser we will be trying. We will run a catalog sale in October which will include a gift and wrapping paper catalog and a frozen foods brochure. You can preview the items we will be offering at Mr. Z .
The Spring Spirit Wear is over. We will offer Spirit Wear again in the fall. There are a limited number of t shirts available in various styles and sizes. Contact coordinator Anne Nickrand if you are in need of Spirit Wear. (See tab above for PTO Board for contact info)
Our next Cook's Night Out is scheduled for May 14 at Tate's Ice Cream in Wheaton from 3:30 to 9 pm. Plan to stop in for icecream before or after the Spring Band Concert.
PTO and the Winfield School Board are co-hosting a reception for our Superintendent, Dr. Diane Cody, on Thursday, May 21 at 3:30 in the Central School Commons. Parents, students, teachers, staff and friends are all invited to share in thanking Dr. Cody for her years of service to our school and wishing her well in her new post. Snacks and beverages will be provided. If you would like to donate an hors d'oeurve or dessert please email Mary Schramer at theschramers@sbcglobal.net or leave a message at 630-784-0058.
